Tamiru Belayneh brings over 20 years of progressive business and technical experience across various sectors, including SMEs, banking, financial services, e-commerce, and SOEs in Ethiopia and the USA. He is currently a Principal Portfolio Advisor at Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH), where he leads portfolio management strategy, value creation, and the implementation of professional and commercial discipline across various public enterprises. Before joining EIH, Tamiru worked at Renew Capital, a private equity firm, focusing on portfolio management, financial advisory, and strategic business partnerships across Ethiopia, Uganda, and Rwanda.
Tamiru's career highlights include his six years in the USA working for RR Donnelley, a Fortune 500 company, where he supported regulatory filings with the SEC and managed data analysis, product management, and user support for a global team of analysts. Before this, he spent nine years in the Ethiopian banking sector at Dashen Bank and United Bank, handling branch and operations management, credit analysis, and international banking operations. He holds an MBA from Maharishi University of Management, a BA in Accounting, and a BSc in Information Systems from Addis Ababa University, and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
Driven by a passion for contributing to his home country, Tamiru has been actively involved with the EDTF Addis chapter since 2020, supporting various initiatives, including reviewing financial policies and monitoring projects. His extensive professional experience and dedication to leveraging diaspora engagement for impactful development in Ethiopia positions him as a valuable asset to the EDTF board. Tamiru is committed to bringing strategic insights and fostering unity among stakeholders to further EDTF’s mission of improving lives in Ethiopia.
